4) I've been to hell and back and want you to know, no matter what life hits you with- you can survive and learn to thrive from it all.

Some of you are aware of what I have been through in these past five years. It's been traumatic and deeply healing, to say the least. I stayed fit for some time, then it all went out the window when I started drinking wine EVERYDAY as a way to numb out my feelings (see below). I gained a bunch of weight and then in late 2018, I slowly got back into my fitness groove.

Here is an excerpt from my Insta about it-

Life happens. Under grace, we survive. A brief outline of my booty/body story... 2013, I start working out and met the man of my dreams. We got engaged in 2014! In late 2015 my (then) fiancé attempted suicide and our world fell apart. This was the biggest life crisis I have ever experienced. I started drinking and stopped working out. We went to suicide support group meetings and had to start from scratch. Life was dark. I constantly thought I would come home and find my beloved had taken his life.

We decided to go through with the marriage the following year and performed our own ceremony out in nature. By 2016 I was doing my best to exercise, but I had become addicted to drinking wine. I drank daily & it added pounds. I became lazy & depressed.

Later that year my 'husband' had an emotional breakthrough & disclosed to me the reason he attempted suicide back in 2015 was that he's really 'a woman' in a man's body.

We started going to meetings for trans women and their partners. We even went to weekly therapy sessions at the local lgbtq center. I am grateful for those sessions. We did our best to work through it all and heal our lives.

By mid-2017, we knew the relationship had run its course. We said goodbye and thankfully are still friends.

I had gained 35 lbs, & continued drinking wine daily until late 2018. Since then, I've been on a focused path of healing and renewal...and have finally come full circle!
And you can do it too. Life can throw you into a serious crisis without any warning.
But you are stronger than you know. You can heal. You can forgive yourself and others ...and be free to be you ♡Love, @bootysculptress

I look forward to seeing you on Instagram and sharing from my journey of healing, health, fitness, and growing a booty!
Lots of Love- and thanks for sticking around all of these years

Comparison is a Confidence Killer

The best way to deplete Self Confidence is to compare our selves to others.

Feeling confident is a choice.
Self Love equals confidence.
What patterns destroy your confidence?

Confidence.
When we are aligned in love, we love ourselves just as we are, and float on that wave of confidence.

When you reside in Self Love, you allow others to be in their power too, so there are no power struggles, no comparisons- only the neutral quality of love.

When you are in the space of love, nothing can touch you.
Start with Self Love as the baseline. It can be one of the hardest places to begin. But comparing ourselves to others is the death of self confidence. There will be no room for YOU left inside the domain of yourself, if you continually fill the space of your mind with thoughts of others. That eventually triggers your emotions to believe what you see in your mind is the truth, when in fact its not. There is no comparing you to anyone else.

Work through patterns that destroy self love.
We've all been maked by the past, we all have pain. It is work to continually heal ourselves, to choose the high road, to change the energy consciously. It is work and you can do the work.

Even the 'the most attractive person' will find someone in the crowd to compare themselves to.  I strongly believe that comparing ourselves to others is what causes anxiety, depression, fear and insecurity.

You look at someone who seems to have it all together... the looks, the talent, the ability... You don't know their story- or where their 'stretch marks' are hidden. We show our best face forward. What it looks like on the outside is not always what it looks like on the inside... Listening to NPR recently I heard a Doctor speak about a study that claimed 50 million people in America were diagnosed with Anxiety this year.

Anxiety stems from over thinking... And mostly thinking of imagined scenarios in your head. If you are suffering over imagined scenarios, and not aligning with the present moment.. you will be certainly pulled out of your personal power and the natural stream of self confidence that resides when you relax into the authentic self you truly are, free of comparison and free to let yourself be. If this is the power of the mind, what could be experience if it was switched?... If we used the same energy to cultivate self love and self acceptance?

When I come out of being depressed, I realize the loops of comparison I had been drowning in. Today I woke up thinking about how much happier I'd be- if I stopped comparing myself to others. I mean, just how much of our personal power becomes drained due to giving confidence away to others through the time we spend thinking about how much more beautiful/talented/powerful they are in comparison to ourselves?

The mind can be the cause of our sorrow.
"I'm not good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, sexy enough, thin enough, talented enough..." The list goes on. These negatory thoughts do little to pump up our self confidence, in effect, we are giving our confidence away to strangers on TV, in Magazines, or to people we don't even know in public places, or worse yet, those we do know in our circles.

Thinking that we know what others are thinking about us is another confidence killer. Here we are thinking too much about ourselves. It blocks the real essence of any kind of natural exchange between yourself and another, or your environment. Get out of your head and into your power.

If we do not consciously navigate the thread of self comparison, it can lead us to feeling unworthy, anxiety ridden and down right depressed.

So how long are you gonna rent out space to all those comparing thoughts?

xoxo
Be strong and be true to you.

Obsessed with weighing yourself?

About a year ago, I realized my weight was running my life. I'd wake up and weigh myself right away. I'd have a morning BM and weigh myself afterwards. Following this, I'd go to the gym and weigh myself there before working out, and then again after working out. And because I was never sure if the scale at the gym was accurate, I'd weigh myself again upon returning home. The whole cycle would continue the following day. I was rarely happy with my body, and was constantly judging it by how much it weighed. If the number was higher than my 'norm', I would begin feeling heavy- even if it was only two-three pounds. If I appeared to have lost a couple of pounds, I was over the moon, and would literally feel lighter.

Consider the following questions and see if you can answer them honestly.

Are you obsessed with your weight?

Do you have one, or more weighing scales in your house, and do you use them both daily?

Do you get depressed when you've gained a couple pounds, and happy when you've lost a few?

Does your weight govern how you see yourself and your body?

Even if you wake up feeling positive about your body image, can the number on the scale change the way you perceive your body?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then perhaps you can consider taking a break from the scales. I know, I know- it's a crazy idea, especially if you are hooked. But some addictions are good to break. Let me give you a bit of my back story. One year ago I started to take my body seriously. I began working out with a trainer and during the winter of 2012,  I completed a fast of almost forty days. It was the third winter-time fast in a row of dramatic fasting I did. See my blog Confessions of a Spiritual Apprentice http://confessionsofaspiritualapprentice.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Yes, I lost tons of weight, but I also lost a lot of muscle, muscle-tone and physical strength. I had laid off of working out with my trainer because I had no energy. At forty years old, my skin was sagging and loose fitting. With so much weight loss, yes- my clothes did fit better on my body. But when I took them off, I hated my weak and lifeless form.

I struggled with this for many months. I slowly gained weight back and my addiction to 'checking in' with the scales began. I knew my daily diet would surely cause me to gain weight back. I got into working with my trainer again, and watched what I was eating. I decided tightening my skin, and building muscle tone would be my focus. The more I worked out, the more I became impatient about seeing physical results. My body didn't seem to be changing soon enough for me, so I relied on the weighing scale to tell me how to feel.

Over many months, I started to see results. My shape started finding a new form. I was finally seeing muscle tone and feeling stronger in new ways. I would weigh myself in hopes of weighing less. Some days I would drop a couple pounds- but some days my weight wouldn't budge at all. I have now realized a few things:

1) Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you are loosing fat and building muscle, you may not see a significant shift in your weight.
2) You can add up to three pounds over night- to your normal, or comfortable weight by eating a heavily salted meal. A lot of salt causes the body to hold more water, which equals more weight.
3) If I ate a large- (even healthy) meal, I would weigh more directly afterwards.
4) I would always weigh less after a health BM (bowel movement)

Your body weight fluctuates all the time. get used to it and put the scale away. If your mission is to purposely loose a lot of weight, please do so safely.. and then maybe put the scale away if you can.

After doing my internal work of re-patterning how I think about my body, and changing negative thoughts to positive ones. I stopped trying to loose more and more weight- and started to tighten and tone my body from where my body was naturally. I love to eat and my boyfriend is a cook, so there is no getting around starving myself. Besides, I want to enjoy a good quality of life with good food as a regular way of life. Don't you?

Okay, heres the deal.. Rather than looking at your body, or weighing it to decide on how to feel about it- decide to pay more attention to how you feel in your clothing. You may be shaping up beautifully, but missing the boat if your eyes are glued to the numbers on the scale. You may have lost inches from all of the hard work you are doing, but if you don't take time to acknowledge it, you will be stuck relying on the numbers game. You are wearing a Beautiful Body- right now! Chances are, If you've been watching what you eat and working out... you have indeed shape shifted your form. So give yourself permission to embrace your body, applaud your discipline and be grateful for the body you  have. I know, sometimes we get off track and this can be a great excuse to be hard on ourselves. Do not let this ruin all the work you have done to this point. Pat yourself on the back, dust yourself off and get back into dance, cardio, bodysculpt- or boxing class!

If your ok with not loosing a bunch of weight, but are interested in loosing inches... I highly recommend taking up yoga- besides creating a sleeker form, it will increase the balance and harmony of your mind/body/spirit. The more you do- the longer and leaner your body will become. 'Yoga strong' is a whole different type of physical strong that focuses on creating longer muscles by using your own body weight to play from. Here is one of my yoga videos below- watch and see if it is something you would enjoy. In closing, if you are indeed addicted to the scales, try- jut for one day, one week, one month, putting it out of sight. Tell your Beautiful Body how much you appreciate it and exhale deeply into letting go of your weight. Let it fluctuate-  maybe a little, maybe a lot.. you are human after all.
With Love,
